About vogueza

A small production hub built around live television

vogueza

Since 2012 we have helped broadcast teams in Dorchester and further afield plan studios, light them, tune their sound and run live programmes that stay on time.

Our story

How a Dorchester studio consultancy took shape

vogueza was founded in 2012 in Dorchester with a simple view: live television goes wrong where disciplines meet. Cameras, sound and lighting were usually handled by separate people who rarely planned together. We set out to put them in one room from the start.

What we stand for

  1. Reliability

A live programme cannot be paused to fix a cable. We test systems as a whole, document what we install and plan for faults, so the studio behaves the same on a busy bulletin day as it did in rehearsal.

  2. Craft

Good television depends on small decisions: a lamp angle, a microphone position, a shot that holds. Our specialists take time over these details and explain their choices, so your crew can maintain the standard after we leave.

  3. Clarity

We write quotations, plans and handover notes in plain language. You see what each part of the work includes, what could change it and what can wait, so decisions rest on information rather than guesswork.

Background

The experience we bring to a studio

Our team has worked across regional news, interviews and panel shows. That background means we understand how producers, directors and engineers actually share a room during a broadcast, and where each tends to need support.

Engineering and integration

Helen leads studio engineering and has a background in broadcast engineering across regional news. She designs and commissions galleries, deciding how vision mixing, monitoring, intercom and routing fit together. Her approach is to keep the signal flow simple enough that a new operator can follow it. Documentation is part of the job, so the system can be maintained and extended later.

Pictures and sound

Daniel plans shots and directs camera crews for interviews and live panel shows, while Priya measures and treats rooms so speech is heard clearly. They work together on microphone and camera positions, since a boom, a lens and a guest's seat all compete for the same space. Their plans are checked against rehearsal.

Light and live running

Tom builds lighting plans that flatter presenters and keep cameras consistent through long broadcasts. He rigs and balances LED fixtures with the camera team beside him. That same joined-up thinking carries into live workflow support, where rundowns, rehearsals and technical cover are arranged with the whole crew in mind.

Client feedback

What clients say about working with us

These comments come from producers and managers who have used our services. They describe particular parts of the work in their own words.

Rachel OrmerodStation manager, regional news channel

“The gallery was tested as one system before we ever went live, and it showed. Our first bulletin ran without the usual last-minute scramble. The handover notes were clear enough for our own engineers to follow.”

Gareth LinleyProducer, interview programme

“We had an echo problem in our interview room that we had tried to fix with levels for months. After the measurements and treatment, guests sounded consistent from one recording to the next. The explanation of what was done was helpful.”

Sian TreharneExecutive producer, live talk show

“Daniel planned the camera positions around our set and rehearsed the crew until the shot changes felt natural. The panel show looks more settled, and our director said calling the cameras was easier than before.”

Marcus DelaneyHead of production, community television station

“The lighting plan kept our presenters looking the same through a long evening broadcast. Quotation items were separate, so we did the essentials first and added the background lighting a few months later without any rework.”
